36 Again he sent other servants, more than before; and they did the same.

37 And at last he sent his son unto them, saying, They shall be ashamed of my son.

38 And when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir; Come, let us kill him, and take possession of his inheritance.

39 And they seized him, and brought him out of the vineyard, and killed him.

E-40 Now, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to these tenants?

41 And they say unto him, He shall deliver these wicked men to an evil death, and he shall give the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall give him the fruit in their seasons.

42 Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner?' Is this from the Lord, and is it wondrous in our eyes?

43 Therefore I say unto you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a people that bear its fruits;

44 And whosoever falls on this stone shall be broken, and whosoever it falls on him shall be crushed.

45 And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they understood that he was speaking of them,

46 and they sought to seize him, but they feared the people, because they considered him to be a prophet.

Chapter 22

1 Jesus, continuing to speak to them in parables, said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who made a wedding feast for his son

3 And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast; and they did not want to come.

4 And again he sent other servants, saying, Say to them that are invited, Behold, I have prepared my supper, and my calves, and what is fattened, slaughtered, and all is ready; Come to the wedding feast.

5 But they despised it, and went away, some to their field, and some to their trade;

6 And the rest, having seized his servants, insulted them, and slew them.

7 And when the king heard of these things, he was angry, and sent his armies, and destroyed their murderers, and burned their city.

8 Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, but those who are invited were not worthy;

9 Go therefore to the highways, and call all whom you find to the wedding feast.
