38 But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking.' Can you drink the cup that I drink and be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?

39 And they answered, 'We can.' And Jesus said to them, "The cup which I drink, you shall drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you shall be baptized;

40 but to let me sit on my right hand and on my left, it does not depend on me, but on whom it is prepared.

41 And when the ten had heard, they began to be angry with James and John.

42 And Jesus called them, and said to them, 'You know that those who are esteemed princes of the nations rule over them, and their nobles rule over them.'

43 But let it not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your servant;

44 And whosoever will be first among you, let him be the servant of all.

45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.

E-46 They come to Jericho. And when He was going out of Jericho with His disciples and a multitude of people, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, sitting blind by the roadside, begging alms.

47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David! have mercy on me.

48 Many silenced him; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David!" have mercy on me.

E-49 Jesus stopped and told him to be called. They called the blind man and said to him: "Do not be afraid, get up, he is calling you."

50 He threw off his outer garment, arose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered him, and asked, 'What do you want of me?' The blind man said to Him, "Teacher! so that I can see.
