Chapter 5

And Moses called all Israel together, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and laws which I will speak this day in your ears, and learn them, and take care to do them.

The Lord our God has made a covenant with us in Horeb;

The Lord hath not made this covenant with our fathers, but with us, who are all alive here today.

Face to face, the Lord spoke to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire;

And I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to tell you the word of the Lord, for you were afraid of the fire, and did not go up into the mountain. He then said:

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee an idol, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth,

Thou shalt not worship them, nor serve them; For I am the LORD your God, a jealous God, punishing the children even to the third and fourth generation because of the guilt of the fathers, who hate me;

And he that doeth mercy unto a thousand generations unto them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord [your God] will not leave without punishment him who uses his name in vain.

Thou shalt keep the sabbath day, that thou mayest keep it holy, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee;

Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work,

And the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not do any work, neither thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy manservant, nor thy ox, nor thy ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is with thee, that thy servant and thy servant may rest, as thou hast also.

And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, but the LORD your God brought you up from there with a mighty hand and a high arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

You shall honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well for you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.
