Therefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent to Gogam king of Hebron, and to Thyram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhias king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, to say,

Come unto me, and help me to smite Gibeon, because he made peace with Joshua and the children of Israel.

And they were assembled, and the five kings of the Amorites went, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, and they and all their host, and encamped near Gibeon, to fight against him.

And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua in the camp of Gilgal, saying, Take not thy hand away from thy servants; come to us quickly, save us and give us help; for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains are gathered against us.

Joshua went out of Gilgal himself, and with him all the people who were capable of war, and all the valiant men.

And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not, for I have delivered them into thy hand: not one of them shall stand before thee.

And Jesus came against them suddenly, [because] he had been coming all night from Gilgal.

And the LORD caused them to be troubled at the sight of Israel, and they smote them in Gibeon with a mighty defeat, and pursued them by the road to the high places of Bethoron, and smote them as far as Azekah and as far as Maked.

And it came to pass, as they fled from Israel by the slope of Mount Bethhoron, that the LORD threw upon them from heaven great stones [of the city] as far as Azekah, and they died; there were more of those who died by the stones of the hail than those who were slain by the children of Israel with the sword.

And Joshua cried unto the LORD in the day that the LORD delivered the Amorites into the hands of Israel, when he smote them at Gibeon, and they were slain before the children of Israel, and said before Israel, 'Stand still, O sun, over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Ajalon.'

And the sun stood still, and the moon stood, while the people took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not what is written in the Book of the Righteous: "The sun stood in the midst of heaven, and did not hurry to the west almost all day"?

And there was no day before or after that in which the Lord heard the voice of man. For the Lord fought for Israel.

Then Joshua and all Israel returned with him to the camp of Gilgal.

And those five kings fled and hid themselves in a cave in Mahide.
