How to Read the Bible

dwell in Jacob, and receive the inheritance in Israel.

Before the world from the beginning he brought me forth, and I shall never perish.

I served before him in the holy tabernacle, and so I was established in Zion.

He has given me also rest in my beloved city, and in Jerusalem my authority.

And I am rooted in a glorified people, in the hereditary inheritance of the Lord.

I have been exalted as the cedar in Lebanon, and as the cypress in the mountains of Hermon;

I am exalted like the palm tree in Engaddi, and like the rose bushes in Jericho;

I am exalted like a beautiful olive tree in the valley, and like a sycamore tree.

Like cinnamon and aspalaf, I gave out a fragrant smell, and like excellent myrrh, I spread a fragrance,

As halvani, and onyx, and stakti, and as the fragrance of frankincense in the tabernacle.

I have spread out my branches like terebinth, and my branches are branches of glory and grace.

I am like a vine that brings forth grace, and my flowers are the fruit of glory and riches.

Come unto me, ye that desire me, and be satisfied with my fruits;

For the remembrance of me is sweeter than honey, and the possession of me is sweeter than a honeycomb.

Those who eat me will still hunger, and those who drink me will still thirst.

He who hears me will not be ashamed, and those who labor with me will not sin.

All this is the covenant book of the Most High God,

the law which Moses commanded as an inheritance to the hosts of Jacob.

He feasts with wisdom, like Pishon, and like the Tiger in the days of novelty;

he filleth with understanding, as the Euphrates, and as the Jordan in the days of the harvest;

he pours out the doctrine as light, and as Gion in the grape gathering.
