How to Read the Bible

10 And I will make a place for my people Israel, and I will root them, and they shall dwell quietly in their place, and shall be no more troubled, and wicked men shall no longer oppress them as before,

11 From the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. And the Lord declares to you that He will build you a house.

12 And when thy days shall be fulfilled, and thou shalt rest with thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall come out of thy loins, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 He will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 I will be his father, and he will be my son; and if he sins, I will punish him with the rod of men, and with the blows of the sons of men.

15 but I will not take away my mercy from him, as I took away from Saul, whom I rejected before you.

16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be immovable forever before me, and thy throne shall stand for ever.

9. David's Prayer (2 Samuel 23:2-7)

3 The God of Israel said, the rock of Israel said of me, He that domineth dominion over men shall be righteous, ruling in the fear of God.

4 And as at the dawn of the morning, when the sun rises in a cloudless sky, grass grows out of the earth because of the radiance after the rain,

5 Is not my house with God? For he hath made an everlasting covenant with me, firm and immutable. Is not this how all my salvation and all my will proceed from Him?

6 But the wicked will be like thorns thrown out, which they do not take with their hands;
