As for the "depths of Satan," it seems to be Gnosticism. At that time, occult and theosophical systems created colossal genealogies showing the origin of spirits, gods, demons. These genealogies took up entire books. Imagination worked, magical, realistic fantasy worked. All this, like dark smoke, obscured the Christian consciousness. People hung amulets with the image of Christ, some snake-like or winged creatures on themselves - everything was mixed here: both astrology and secret sciences. The pure stream of Christianity could very easily be clogged with all this, which is why it is said so harshly: all these depths of Satan must be rejected.

"Whosoever overcometh and keepeth My works to the end, to him will I give power over the Gentiles, and shall shepherd them with a rod of iron." This is a messianic image. The Messiah gains power over the world in the coming kingdom, and so all who remain faithful become partakers of His kingdom. And those who remain faithful are those who strive to preserve the purity of the faith itself. "Only what you have, keep until I come."

Next comes the Angel Sardis — Rev. 3, 1–6. It is mentioned once again that the Lord has in His right hand the seven Spirits of God, the seven stars, that is, the unshakable fullness of the church, which nothing can move. He addresses terrible words to this community: "You bear a name as if you were alive, but you are dead" – words that expose the decline of this church community.

We often think of the early Christian communities as a kind of sanctuary of saints. In fact, there were passions then, and then there were infirmities, and then there was decline, and then there were all those crises that shake our church now. And she won, no matter what. Read the Apostolic Acts and Epistles and see what turmoil tore apart the early Christian Church. Therefore, we should not be discouraged, we should look forward with hope.

Откуда символ «книги жизни'"! Когда после разрушения городов их снова заселяли, то основных жителей, особенно знатных людей, записывали в особые списки, которые называли книгами жителей этого города. Такие книги существовали, например, когда заселялся после разорения Иерусалим, и пророки образно писали, что у Бога есть Своя книга, в которую Он записывает всех, кто в Его царство входит, у Него есть книга жизни. И те, кого Он вычеркнул, не войдут в Его Царство, в град Божий… Далее идет город Филадельфия, что значит «братолюбие». Он был построен эллинистическими монархами, и в знак одного из политических союзов был назван «братолюбивым городом» — Филадельфией.

Откр.3, 7–13. Прежде чем обращаться к филадельфийской церкви, Христос даст Себе еще одно наименование — Тот, Который «Святый Истинный, имеющий ключ Давидов». О ключе Давидовом говорится неоднократно в пророчестве Исайи, ключ Давидов — это ключ в Царство Божие. Это — таинственный ключ, и если Давид им запер, то уже никто не может отпереть, а если он отпер, никто не может запереть. Вот, скажем, одно из таких мест: пророк обращается к одному из благочестивых наместников города — «… и будет он отцом для жителей Иерусалима и для Дома Иудина, и ключ дома Давидова возложу на рамена его — отворит он, и никто не запрет, запрет он, и никто не отворит». То есть никто не может противиться его свершениям: если он отпер, значит так и будет.

Еще раз подчеркнем, что, если бы вы читали все параллельные места из Ветхого Завета, то увидели бы, что евангелист все время говорит словами Священного Писания.

Далее дается трогательная характеристика Филадельфийской церкви — «Ты не много имеешь силы». Очевидно, это была маленькая церковь, но она сохранила слово Божие, не отреклась. Это снова обращено ко все нам: мы малое стадо, но надо держаться твердо, и тогда даже внутренние распри нас не поколеблют. Иоанн говорит о «сборище сатанинском», о людях, которые утверждают , что они иудеи, но не таковы, то есть они лжеучители, раскольники, еретики. И перед их лицом малая община сумела сохранить твердость.
