Text of the Festal Menaion in Russian

That the Lord God may send down the blessing of the Jordan and sanctify these waters, let us pray to the Lord.

That this water of sanctification may become a gift, a deliverance from sins, suitable for the healing of soul and body, and for every useful work, let us pray to the Lord.

That this water may flow into eternal life, let us pray to the Lord.

In order that it may appear as a protection from all the deceit of visible and invisible enemies, let us pray to the Lord.

For those who draw and take it for the consecration of houses, let us pray to the Lord.

In order that it may serve for the purification of soul and body to all who draw and receive it with faith, let us pray to the Lord.

In order that we may be worthy of the fullness of sanctification through the reception of these waters by the invisible manifestation of the Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord.

In order that the Lord God may hear the voice of prayer for us, sinners, and have mercy on us, let us pray to the Lord.

Let us pray to the Lord for our deliverance from all sorrow, anger, misfortune and need.

Protect, save, have mercy on us, and preserve us, O God, by Thy grace.

Remembering our Most-Holy, Most-Pure, Most-Blessed, Glorious Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary with all the saints, let us commit ourselves and one another, and all our lives to Christ our God.

Choir: To Thee, O Lord.

At this time, the priest says a secret prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ, the Only-begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, the true God, the Source of life and immortality, the Light of Light, Who came into the world to enlighten it! Illumine our thoughts with Thy Holy Spirit and receive us, who magnify Thee and give thanks to Thee for Thy wondrous and great deeds that have been accomplished from all eternity, and for Thy salvific plan accomplished in the last centuries, when, having clothed Thy complex nature, weak and poor, and having descended to a state of slavery, Thou, the King of all, also received baptism in the Jordan from the hand of a servant, so that, having sanctified the water nature, O Sinless One, he may pave the way for us to be reborn by water and the Spirit, and return us to our original freedom.
