7 Cast all your cares on him, for he cares for you.

8 Be sober, be watchful, for your adversary the devil walketh about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

9 Resist him with firm faith, knowing that the same afflictions befall your brethren in the world.

10 And the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, Himself, after your suffering for a short time, may He perfect you, that He may strengthen you, that He may strengthen you, that He may make you immovable.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 These things I have written to you briefly through Silvanus, who I think is your faithful brother, to assure you, comforting you, and bearing witness that this is the true grace of God, in which you stand.

13 The chosen church in Babylon greets you, and Mark my son.

14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

1 Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, who received with us the equally precious faith in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

2 Grace and peace abound unto you in the knowledge of God, and of Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 As by his divine power all things needful for life and godliness have been given unto us, through the knowledge of him who called us with glory and goodness,

4 by which great and precious promises have been given unto us, that by them ye may become partakers of the divine nature, departing from the corruption of lust which reigns in the world:

5 then ye shall make every effort unto this, and shew in your faith virtue, and prudence in virtue,

6 In prudence temperance, in temperance patience, in patience godliness,
