A COLLECTION OF EPISTLES

5 He has saved us, not by works of righteousness that we would have done, but by his mercy, by the bath of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Ghost,

6 Whom he has poured out abundantly upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

7 that, being justified by his grace, we may be made heirs of eternal life in hope.

8 This word is true; and I desire that you confirm this, so that those who believe in God may strive to be diligent in good works: this is good and profitable for men.

9 But turn away from foolish contests, and genealogies, and disputes, and strife about the law, for they are useless and vain.

10 A heretic, after the first and second admonition, turn away,

11 knowing that such a one is depraved and sinning, being self-condemned.

12 And when I send to thee Artemas or Tychicus, hasten to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have determined to spend the winter there.

13 And thou shalt take care to send Zehna the lawyer and Apollos, that they may lack nothing.

14 Let us also learn to exercise ourselves in good works, in the satisfaction of necessary needs, that they may not be fruitless.

15 All who are with me salute thee. Greet those who love us in faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

THE EPISTLE TO PHILEMON

1 Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,

2 And to Apphia, our beloved, and to Archippus, our companion, and to thy house church:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God, always remembering thee in my prayers,

5 hearing of thy love and faith which thou hast for the Lord Jesus and for all the saints,
