1 Therefore we must be especially attentive to what we hear, lest we fall away.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was firm, and every transgression and disobedience received a righteous recompense,

3 how shall we escape, by neglecting a little salvation, which, having first been preached by the Lord, was established in us by those who heard of him,

4 Bearing witness from God by signs and wonders, and divers powers, and by the giving of the Holy Ghost according to His will?

5 For it was not to angels that God subdued the world to come, of which we speak;

6 On the contrary, someone somewhere testified, saying, 'What is the meaning of a man, that you remember him?' or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

7 Thou didst not humble him much before the angels; With glory and honor Thou hast crowned him, and hath set him over the works of Thy hands;

8 He subdued all things under his feet. And when he had subdued all things to him, he left nothing unsubject to him. But now we do not yet see that everything was subject to him;

9 But we see that because of the endurance of death, Jesus was crowned with glory and honor, who was humbled a little before the angels, that by the grace of God he might taste death for all.

10 For it was fitting that he for whom all things are, and from whom all things, who brings many sons to glory, the author of their salvation through sufferings.

11 For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of the One; therefore He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying:

12 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the church I will sing praises unto thee.

E-13 And again, I'll trust in Him. And again, behold, I am and the children whom God has given me.

14 And as children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also took them up, that by death he might take away the power of him that hath the power of death, that is, the devil,

15 and to deliver those who, for fear of death, had been subject to slavery all their lives.

16 For he does not receive angels, but the seed of Abraham.

17 Therefore he had to be made like the brethren in all things, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

18 For as he himself endured when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
