8 If ye keep the royal law, according to the Scriptures, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye are doing well.

9 But if you do with respect to persons, you commit sin, and you are transgressors before the law.

10 He that keepeth the whole law, and sins in one thing, is guilty of all.

11 For he who said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, also said, Thou shalt not kill; Therefore, if you do not commit adultery, but kill, then you are also a transgressor of the law.

12 Thus speak and thus act, as those who are to be judged according to the law of liberty.

13 For judgment is without mercy to him that hath not shown mercy; mercy is exalted above judgment.

14 What is the profit, my brethren, if a man says that he has faith, but has not works? Can this faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister is naked, and has no daily sustenance,

16 And one of you shall say to them, 'Go in peace, and be warm and nourished,' but he will not give them the things that are necessary for the body: what profit?

17 In the same way, faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.

18 But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works,' show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith from my works.

19 Thou believest that God is one: thou dost do well; and the demons believe and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, thou unfounded man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he laid Isaac his son on the altar?

22 Do you see that faith contributed to his works, and by works his faith was made perfect?

23 And the word of the Scripture was fulfilled, 'Abraham believed in God, and it was reckoned to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God.'

24 Do you see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone?

25 In like manner, did not Rahab the harlot be justified by works, having received the spies, and having sent them away by another way?

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.
