Пишешь, что скорби и скорби и о том только и думаешь, что скорби. А скорби ведут на небо! Так устроено Богом для очищения грехов и недопущения до больших проступков и для получения вечно радостной блаженной жизни на небе. А ты обижаешься на Бога, что Он в рай тебя как бы насильно тащит, а ты эти маловременныя скорбишки часто-часто сравнивай с адскими огненными мучениями безконечными, которыя ты заслужила грехами. Одумайся и скажи: „Господи, благодарю тебя за скорби. Мало мне, грешной, этих скорбей, пошли их больше мне, только избавь от вечных мучений и томлений безконечных".

Испрашивая на тебя и сестру твою мир и Божие благословение, пребываю к вам с благожеланием.

157. Больше молчи, никого не укоряй и помни смертный час

Нет пользы ехать в Москву к сестре гостить, а затем украдкой ко преп. Сергию. Помни, всякая лживость – от диавола. Живи так: больше молчи, не осуждай, не укоряй, не злись, не гордись, считай себя хуже всех, помни час смертный и готовься дать ответ, оплакивай прежние грехи, а вновь старайся не грешить.

П. Елена коровница! В Калугу – не думай. Живи, где живешь, считай себя хуже всех и молись Богу о прощении грехов.

Испрашивая на тебя и всех вас мир и Божие благословение, пребываю с благожеланием.

158. Никогда никого не осуждай, всех прощай и считай себя хуже всех на свете
