Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

21 And the Lord God put the man into a deep sleep; and when he had fallen asleep, he took one of his ribs, and covered the place with flesh.

22 And the Lord God made a woman out of the rib that was taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

23 And the man said, Behold, this is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken from her husband.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, Adam and his wife, and they were not ashamed.

Chapter 3

1 The serpent was more cunning than all the beasts of the field that the Lord God had made. And the serpent said to the woman, Did God really say, Ye shall not eat of any tree in the garden?

2 And the woman said to the serpent, 'We may eat of the fruit of the trees,

3 Only the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, said God, you shall not eat of it or touch it, lest you die.

4 And the serpent said to the woman, 'No, you will not die;

5 but God knows that in the day that you eat of them, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eye, and desirable, because it giveth knowledge; And she took of its fruit, and ate it; and she gave it also to her husband, and he ate.

7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves, and made themselves girdles.

8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day; And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
