Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

Then these three valiant men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. But he would not drink it, and poured it out to the glory of the Lord;

And he said, 'The Lord preserve me, that I may do this!' Is this not the blood of people who walked at the risk of their own lives? And he did not want to drink it. That's what these three brave men did!

And Abishai the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruin, was chief of the three; and he slew three hundred men with his spear, and was in glory with the three.

Of the three he was the noblest, and was the ruler, but he was not equal to those three.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a man of valiance, great in works, of Kabzeel; he smote the two sons of Ariel of Moab; and he went down and killed the lion in the pit in the snowy season;

And he slew a certain Egyptian, a man of renown; and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, and he went to him with a stick, and took the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

And this is what Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did, and he was in glory with three mighty men;

He was more noble than thirty, but he was not equal to those three. And David made him the nearest executor of his commands.
