Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

16 A well-behaved wife gains glory [to the husband, but a wife who hates righteousness is the height of dishonor], but the industrious gain wealth.

17 A merciful man does good to his soul, but a hard-hearted man destroys his own flesh.

18 The wicked doeth an uncertain work, but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.

19 Righteousness leads to life, but he who seeks evil seeks his own death.

20 An abomination to the Lord is those who are deceitful in heart; but those who are blameless in the way are pleasing to Him.

21 It can be guaranteed that the wicked will not go unpunished; but the seed of the righteous shall be saved.

22 As a gold ring is in the nose of a pig, so is a woman beautiful and foolish.

23 The desire of the righteous is only good, the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 Some pour out generously, and to him is added more; and the other is excessively thrifty, and yet becomes poor.

25 A charitable soul shall be satisfied, and he that drinketh others shall be watered.

26 He that keepeth bread shall be cursed by the people; and on the head of the seller is a blessing.

27 He that pursueth good seeketh good; and whoever seeks evil, to him it comes.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous will be green like a leaf.

29 He that destroyeth his house shall have the wind as his inheritance, and the foolish shall be the servant of the wise in heart.

30 The fruit of the righteous is the tree of life, and the wise man wins souls.

31 Thus is it recompensed to the righteous on earth, how much more to the wicked and the sinner.

Chapter 12

1 He who loves instruction loves knowledge; but whoever hates reproof is ignorant.

2 A good man gains favor from the Lord; but He will condemn a deceitful man.

3 Man shall not establish himself by iniquity; but the root of the righteous is immovable.

4 A virtuous wife is a crown for her husband; and the shameful one is like rot in his bones.
