Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

20 And Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took the tympanum in her hand, and all the women went out after her, with timbrels and rejoicing.

21 And Miriam sang before them, 'Sing to the Lord, for he is exalted highly, and has cast his horse and rider into the sea.'

22 And Moses led the Israelites out of the Red Sea, and they entered into the wilderness of Shur; And they walked three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23 And they came to Marah, and could not drink the water in Marah, for it was bitter, wherefore the name was called Marah. [9]

24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 [Moses] cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There God gave the people a statute and a law, and there He tested them.

26 And he said, 'If thou wilt obey the voice of the Lord thy God, and do what is right in his sight, and hearken unto his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will not bring upon thee any of the diseases which I have brought upon Egypt, for I am the Lord [thy God], thy healer.

27 And they came to Elim; There were twelve springs of water and seventy date trees, and they camped there by the waters.

Chapter 16

1 And they departed from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came into the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they came out of the land of Egypt.

2 And all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,

3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Oh, that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, while we were sitting by the cauldrons of meat, while we were eating bread to our heart's content! for you have brought us out into this wilderness, to starve the whole congregation to death.

4 And the Lord said to Moses, 'Behold, I will rain bread for you from heaven, and let the people go out and gather daily as much as is necessary for the day, that I may try them, whether they will walk in my law or not;

5 And on the sixth day they shall prepare what they bring, and it shall be twice as much as they gather on the other days.
