1 Тогда Иисус начал говорить народу и ученикам Своим

2 и сказал: на Моисеевом седалище сели книжники и фарисеи;

3 итак все, что они велят вам соблюдать, соблюдайте и делайте; по делам же их не поступайте, ибо они говорят, и не делают:

4 связывают бремена тяжелые и неудобоносимые и возлагают на плечи людям, а сами не хотят и перстом двинуть их;

5 все же дела свои делают с тем, чтобы видели их люди: расширяют хранилища свои [44] и увеличивают воскрилия одежд своих;

6 также любят предвозлежания на пиршествах и председания в синагогах

7 и приветствия в народных собраниях, и чтобы люди звали их: учитель! учитель!

8 But do not be called teachers, for you have one Teacher, Christ, and you are all brethren.

9 And call no man on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

10 And do not be called teachers, for you have one Teacher, Christ.

11 Let the greatest of you be your servant:

12 For he who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.

13 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you shut up the kingdom of heaven to men, for you yourselves do not enter in, and you do not admit those who want to enter.

14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you devour the houses of widows, and pray hypocritically for a long time: therefore you will receive the greater condemnation.

15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you go about the sea and the land, that you may convert even one. and when this happens, make him a son of hell, twice as bad as you.

16 Woe to you, blind leaders, who say, If any man swear by the temple, it is nothing, but if any man swear by the gold of the temple, he is guilty.

17 Mad and blind! Which is greater: gold, or the temple that sanctifies gold?

18 And also, If any man swear by the altar, it is nothing, but if any man swear by the gift that is upon him, he is guilty.

19 Mad and blind! Which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

20 Therefore he that sweareth by the altar sweareth by it, and by all that is upon it;

21 And he that sweareth by the temple sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein;
