And the chief priests accused him of many things.
And Pilate asked him again, "Thou answerest nothing?" you see how many accusations there are against You.
But Jesus made no reply to this, so that Pilate was amazed.
And at every feast he released to them one prisoner whom they had asked.
Then there was a man in chains, named Barabbas, with his accomplices, who had committed murder in a rebellion.
And the people began to cry out, and beseech Pilate for what he had always done for them.
And he answered and said unto them, Wilt ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up out of jealousy.
But the chief priests stirred up the people to ask that Barabbas would be released to them instead.
And Pilate answered and said to them again, 'What then do you want me to do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?'
And they cried out again, 'Crucify him.'
Pilate said to them, 'What evil has he done?' But they cried out even more loudly, "Crucify Him."
Then Pilate, desiring to do what was pleasing to the people, released Barabbas to them, and having beaten Jesus, he delivered him up to be crucified.
And the soldiers took him into the courtyard, that is, into the praetorium, and gathered together all the army,
And they clothed him in a scarlet robe, and wove a crown of thorns, and laid it upon him;
And they began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
And they smote him on the head with a reed, and spit on him, and kneeling down, they bowed down to him.
And when they mocked him, they took off his scarlet robe, and clothed him in his own garments, and led him away to crucify him.
And they made a certain Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, coming from the field, passing by, to bear his cross.
And they brought him to the place of Golgotha, which means, the place of the skull.
And they gave him wine to drink with myrrh; but He did not accept.
