Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

This word pleased me, and I took twelve men from among you, one man from each tribe.

And they went, and went up into the mountain, and came to the valley of Eshol, and looked at it;

And they took the fruit of the earth in their hands, and brought it to us, and brought us tidings, and said, 'Good is the land which the Lord our God giveth us.'

But you would not go, and you resisted the command of the Lord your God,

And they murmured in your tents, saying, 'The Lord, out of hatred for us, brought us up out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites, and to destroy us;

E-28 Where are we going? Our brethren relaxed our hearts, saying, "That people are greater, [more numerous] and higher than we, the cities there are large and with fortifications reaching to the heavens, and we have seen the sons of Enacus there.

And I said unto you, Fear not, nor be afraid of them;

The LORD your God is going before you; He will fight for you, as he did with you in Egypt, before your eyes;

And in this wilderness, where, as thou hast seen, the LORD thy God hath borne thee, as a man beareth his son, all the way which ye traversed before thy coming into this place.

Yet even so you did not believe the Lord your God,

Who went before you in the way, to seek for you a place to stop, by night in the fire, to show you the way to go, and by day in the cloud.

And the Lord [God] heard your words, and was angry, and swore, saying,

None of these people of this wicked generation shall see the good land which I swore to give to your fathers.

Only Caleb the son of Jephunneh will see her; I will give to him the land on which he passed, and to his sons, because he obeyed the Lord.
