Chapter 22

And it came to pass, after these things that God tempted Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham! He said, Here I am.

God said, 'Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac; And thou shalt go to the land of Moriah, and there thou shalt offer him for a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell thee.

Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men, and Isaac his son; and he chopped wood for a burnt offering, and got up he went to the place of which God had told him.

On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place from afar.

And Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey, and I and the son will go thither and worship, and return to you.'

And Abraham took wood for a burnt offering, and put it on Isaac his son; He took fire and knife in his hands, and they both went together.

And Isaac began to speak to Abraham his father, and said, 'My father! And he answered, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the lamb for the burnt offering?

Abraham said, 'God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' And they both walked on together.
