Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

10 Священники, несшие ковчег [завета Господня], стояли среди Иордана, доколе не окончено было [Иисусом] все, что Господь повелел Иисусу сказать народу – так, как завещал Моисей Иисусу; а народ между тем поспешно переходил.

11 Когда весь народ перешел [Иордан], тогда перешел и ковчег [завета] Господня, и священники пред народом;

17 Jesus commanded the priests and said, "Come out of the Jordan."

18 And when the priests who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord came out of the Jordan, as soon as the feet of their feet were on dry land, the waters of the Jordan rushed to their place, and went as yesterday and the third day above all their banks.

19 And the people went out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped at Gilgal, on the east side of Jericho.

20 And the twelve stones which they had taken out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal

21 And he said to the children of Israel, 'When in the time to come your sons shall ask their fathers, 'What is the meaning of these stones?'

22 And you shall say to your children, Israel has crossed this Jordan by dry land,

23 For the LORD your God has dried up the waters of the Jordan for you, until you have crossed it, just as the LORD your God did with the Red Sea, which he has dried up before us, until we have passed over it,

24 that all the nations of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, that ye may fear the LORD your God always.

Chapter 5

1 And when all the kings of the Amorites, who dwelt on this side of the Jordan to the sea, and all the kings of Canaan who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the children of Israel, while they were crossing, then their hearts were faint, and there was no more spirit in them against the children of Israel.

2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, 'Make thee sharp [stone] knives, and circumcise the children of Israel a second time.'

3 And Joshua made himself sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel in the hill of circumcision.

4 This is the reason why Jesus circumcised [the children of Israel who were then born on the way, and which of those who came out of Egypt were not then circumcised, Jesus circumcised them all]: all the people that came out of Egypt, the males, all who were capable of war, died in the wilderness on the way, after they came out of Egypt.

5 And all the people that went out were circumcised, but all the people that were born in the wilderness on the way, after they came out of Egypt, were not circumcised.
