Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

12 Abraham bowed down before the people of the land

13 And he spake unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, saying, If thou wilt hear, I will give thee money for the field; Take it from me, and I will bury my dead woman there.

14 Ephron answered Abraham and said to him,

15 My lord! Hear me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; What is it for me and for you? bury thy dead.

16 Abraham listened to Ephron; And Abraham weighed out to Ephron the amount of silver he had declared aloud to the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, such as the merchants have.

17 And the field of Ephron that was at Machpelah stood against Mamre, and the field and the cave that was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, in all the borders thereof,

18 the dominion of Abraham in the sight of the children of Heth, all who enter into the gates of his city.

19 After these things Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field in Machpelah, opposite Mamre, which is now Hebron, in the land of Canaan.

20 Thus Abraham received from the children of Heath the field and the cave which is in it for his burial property.

Chapter 24

1 Abraham was already old and advanced in years. The Lord blessed Abraham with everything.

2 And Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who was in charge of all that he had, Put thy hand under my thigh

3 And swear to me by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take to my son [Isaac] a wife from among the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live,

4 But thou shalt go into my land, to my homeland, and thou shalt take a wife for my son Isaac.
