Compositions

(Matt. 13:20-21): "And what is sown in stony places signifies the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; but it has no root in itself and is inconstant: when tribulation or persecution for the word comes, it is immediately offended." (1 Corinthians 15:58): "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abound in the work of the Lord." (Gal. 1:6): "I wonder that you should pass so quickly from Him who called you by the grace of Christ to another gospel."

Rule 40: On Those Who Teach New Teachings

Chapter. Those who teach new doctrines, although they pretend to deceive and persuade the uncertain, should not be tolerated.

(Matt. 24:4-5): "Beware lest any man deceive you, for many shall come in My name, and shall say, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many." (Luke 20:46-47): "Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and love to greet in public assemblies, to preside in synagogues, and to preside at banquets, who devour the houses of widows and hypocritically pray for a long time; they will receive all the greater condemnation." (Galatians 1:8-9): "But if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any other gospel than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we said before, (so) and now I say again: whoever preaches to you other gospel than that which you have received, let him be accursed."

Canon 41: On the Cutting Off of Seducers, and Mercy on Those Who Are Weaker

Chapter 1. Everything that tempts must be cut off, although it seems to be very close to us and necessary for us.

(Matt. 18:7-9): "Woe to the world because of stumblings, for stumbling-blocks must come; but woe to the man through whom the temptation comes. But if thy hand or thy foot offends thee, cut them off and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life without an arm or without a foot, than to be cast into everlasting fire with two hands and two feet; and if thy eye offends thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, than to be cast into hell with two eyes."
