Thou art the Surety, Thou who wast the honorable Dwelling of the ineffable nature of the Divine nature, O Surety of sinners, Thou didst bestow grace and healing, as the Mother of all Who reigned, pray to Thy Son to receive mercy for us on the day of judgment.

Prayer:

O Most-Blessed Lady, protector of the Christian race, refuge and salvation of those who come to Thee! O Most Merciful Lady, Son of God, born in the flesh of Thee, we know that we have sinned and wrathed, but we have many images of those who angered His mercy before me: publicans, prostitutes, and other sinners, to whom forgiveness of their sins is given, for the sake of repentance and confession. For Thou didst present the images of those who had been pardoned by the eyes of my sinful souls, and to the great mercy of God, which I had received, and behold, I was bold and a sinner, to run with repentance to Thy mercy.

O All-Merciful Lady! Give me a helping hand and ask Thy Son and God, through Thy motherly and holy prayers, forgiveness for my grievous sin. I believe and confess that Thy Son is truly Christ, the Son of the Living God, the Judge of the living and the dead, who recompense according to his deeds. I believe and confess to Thee that I am the true Mother of God, the source of mercy, the consolation of those who mourn, the seeker of the lost, the strong and unceasing Intercessor to God, the Lover of the Christian race, and the surety of repentance. For verily there is no other help and protection for man, unless to Thee, O Most-Merciful Lady, and no one trusting in Thee shall be ashamed, and by Thee beseeching God, no one shall be forsaken.

Prayer before the icon "The Word Was Made Flesh" (March 9/22)

O Virgin Mother of God, Immaculate Mother of Christ our God, Protectress of the Christian race! Standing before Thy miraculous icon, our fathers pray to Thee, that Thou mayest manifest Thy protection and intercession for the land of the Amur region. By the same we now pray to Thee: Preserve our city and this country from the presence of foreigners and preserve it from civil strife. Grant the world peace, the abundance of fruits of the earth, preserve in holiness our pastors, in the holy temples of those who labor, in the autumn of Thy all-sovereign protection the builders and benefactors of their benefactors. Strengthen our brethren in orthodoxy and like-mindedness; Enlighten those who have erred and apostatized from the Orthodox faith and unite Thy Son to the Holy Church. Be to all who come to Thy miraculous icon protection, consolation, and refuge from all evils, troubles, and circumstances: for Thou art the healing of the sick, the consolation of the afflicted, the correction and admonition of the erring. Accept our prayers and lift me up to the Throne of the Most High, that by Thy intercession we may be kept and overshadowed by Thy protection, let us glorify the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Troparion, tone 4:

By the coming of Thy honorable icon, O Virgin of God, the God-preserved city of Kostroma, as ancient Israel to the nod of the covenant, flows to the image of Thy face and our God incarnate from Thee, that through Thy Mother's intercession Thou mayest ever intercede for all who seek peace and great mercy under the shadow of Thy roof.
