KATHISMA FIRST
Psalm to David, not inscribed in Hebrew, 1
1 Blessed is the man who does not go into the counsel of the unclean, and does not stand in the way of sinners, and does not sit in the seat of the destroyers, 2 but in the law of the Lord is his will, and in his law he shall learn day and night. 3 And it shall be as a tree planted by the outflowing waters, that it shall yield its fruit in its season, and the leaf thereof shall not fall away, and all that it does shall succeed. 4 Not so wicked, not so, but as dust, which the wind sweeps up from the face of the earth. 5 For this reason the unclean shall not rise to judgment, nor to the council of the righteous than a sinner. 6 For the message of the Lord is the way of the righteous, and the way of the unclean shall perish.
Psalm to David, 2
1 Have the tongues been wavering, and people have learned in vain? 2 The king of the land appeared, and the princes gathered together against the Lord and His Christ. 3 Let us break their bonds, and cast away their yoke from us. 4 He who lives in Heaven will laugh at them, and the Lord will mock them. 5 Then he will cry out to them with his wrath, and with his wrath he will crush me. 6 And I am set King by Him over Zion, her holy mountain, 7 proclaim the command of the Lord. The Lord said unto Me: Thou art My Son, I have begotten Thee today. 8 Ask of me, and I will give thee tongues thy inheritance, and thy possession the ends of the earth. 9 Feed me with a rod of iron, as I have broken the vessels of the poor. 10 And now, O king, understand, be punished by all those who judge the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice in him with trembling. 12 Receive punishment, lest the Lord be angry, and perish from the way of righteousness, when his wrath shall soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who hope for Nan.
Psalm to David, Whenever he fled from the presence of Absalom his Son, 3
2 O Lord, why hast thou multiplied me that are cold? Many rise up against me, 3 many say to my soul, There is no salvation for him in his God. 4 But thou, O Lord, art my Defender, my glory, and lift up my head. 5 With my voice I have cried unto the Lord, and thou hast heard me from Thy holy mountain. 6 I am asleep, and sleep, I am asleep, for the Lord will intercede for me. 7 I will not be afraid of these men who are round about me that attack me. 8 Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God, for Thou hast smitten all my enemies in vain: Thou hast broken the teeth of sinners. 9 Salvation is the Lord's, and Thy blessing is upon Thy people.
