1 And as he passed, he saw a man blind from birth.  2 And his disciples asked him, 'Rabbi! Who sinned, he or his parents, that he was born blind?  3 Jesus answered, "Neither he nor his parents have sinned, but this is that the works of God may be manifested in him."  4 I must do the works of him who sent me, while there is a day; the night comes when no one can do.  5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.  6 And when he had said these things, he spat on the ground, and made a spittle of spittle, and anointed the eyes of the blind man, 7 and said unto him, Go and wash thyself in the pool of Siloam, which is to say, he who was sent. He went and washed, and came seeing.  8 Then the neighbors, and those who had seen before that he was blind, said, 'Is this not the one who sat and begged?'  9 And some said, 'This is he,' and others, 'He is like him.' And he said, "It's me."  10 Then they asked him, 'How were your eyes opened?'  11 And he answered and said, 'The man called Jesus has made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash yourself.' I went, washed my face, and regained my sight.  12 Then they said to him, 'Where is he?' He answered, "I don't know."  13 And they took this former blind man to the Pharisees.  14 And it was the Sabbath when Jesus made the frailty, and opened his eyes.  15 And the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, "He has put clay in my eyes, and I have washed, and I see."  16 Then some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not of God, because he does not keep the Sabbath." Others said: how can a sinful man work such miracles? And there was strife between them.  17 Again they say to the blind man, 'What say thou of him, because he hath opened thy eyes?' He said, "He's a prophet."  18 Then the Jews did not believe that he was blind and had received his sight, until they had called the parents of this one who had received his sight, 19 and asked them, 'Is this your son of whom you say that he was born blind?' How does he see now?  20 And his parents answered and said unto them, 'We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind,' 21 but how he sees now we do not know, or who opened his eyes, we do not know.' He himself is of perfect age; ask yourself; Let him talk about himself.  22 Thus answered his parents, because they feared the Jews; for the Jews have already conspired that whoever acknowledges Him to be Christ should be excommunicated from the synagogue.  23 Wherefore his parents said, 'He is of perfect years; Ask yourself.  24 So they called a man a second time, who was blind, and said to him, 'Give glory to God; we know that That Man is a sinner.  25 And he answered and said unto them, 'Whether he is a sinner, I do not know; One thing I know is that I was blind, and now I see.  26 And they asked him again, 'What has he done to you?' How did He open Thy eyes?  27 And he answered them, 'I have already told you, and you have not heard; What else do you want to hear? or do you also want to become His disciples?  28 And they rebuked him, and said, 'You are his disciple, and we are the disciples of Moses.'  29 We know that God spoke to Moses; But we do not know whence He comes.  30 And the man who had received his sight answered and said unto them, 'It is strange that ye know not whence he comes, but he hath opened my eyes.'  31 But we know that God does not listen to sinners; but whoever honors God and does His will listens to him.  32 From eternity it has not been heard that a man opened the eyes of a man born blind.  33 If He were not of God, He could not do nothing.  34 And they answered and said unto him, Thou art all born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they threw him out.  35 When Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and found him, he said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of God?"  36 And he answered, and said, 'Who is he, Lord, that I should believe in him?'  37 Jesus said to him, "And you have seen him, and he is speaking to you."  38 And he said, 'I believe, O Lord! And he worshipped Him.

     39 And Jesus said, 'I have come into this world for judgment, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.'  40 And when some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this, they said to him, 'Are we also blind?'  41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would not have sin on you; but as you say that you see, the sin remains upon you.

     1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but climbeth over the other, is a thief and a robber;  2 And he who enters by the door is a shepherd to the sheep.  3 To him the door-keeper openeth, and the sheep hearken unto his voice, and he calls his sheep by name, and brings them out.  4 And when he brings forth his sheep, he goes before them; but the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.  5 But they do not follow a stranger, but flee from him, because they do not know the voice of a stranger.  6 This parable Jesus spake unto them; but they did not understand what he was saying to them.  7 So Jesus said to them again, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, that I am the door of the sheep.'  8 As many as they have come before me, they are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not listen to them.  9 I am the door: whosoever enters in by me shall be saved, and shall enter in, and go out, and shall find pasture.  10 A thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they might have life, and have it more abundantly.  11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  12 But the hireling, not a shepherd, to whom the sheep are not his own, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees; and the wolf plunders the sheep, and scatters them.  13 But the hireling flees because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep.  14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me.  15 As the Father knows me, so do I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.  16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold, and these I must bring: and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd.  17 Therefore the Father loves me, that I lay down my life, that I might take it up again.  18 No one takes it away from me, but I give it myself. I have the power to give it up, and I have the power to receive it again. This commandment I have received from My Father.  19 At these words there arose again strife among the Jews.  20 Many of them said, "He is possessed of a demon and is mad; Why do you listen to Him?  21 And others said, These are not the words of a demoniac man; Can the demon open the eyes of the blind?

     22 And then the feast of the dedication came to Jerusalem, and it was winter.  23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon's porch.  24 Then the Jews encircled him, and said unto him, How long shall thou keep us perplexed? if you are the Christ, tell us plainly.  25 Jesus answered them, "I have told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, they bear witness to me.  26 But you do not believe, for you are not of my sheep, as I have told you.  27 My sheep obey my voice, and I know them; and they come after me.  28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; and no man shall snatch them out of my hand.  29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no man can snatch them out of my Father's hand.  E-30 I and the Father are one.  31 Here again the Jews took up stones to beat Him.  32 Jesus answered them, 'I have shown you many good works from my Father; for which of them do you stone me?  33 And the Jews answered and said unto him, 'We do not want to stone thee for a good deed, but for blasphemy, and because thou, being a man, make thyself God.'  34 Jesus answered them, 'Is it not written in your law, 'I said, 'You are gods?'  35 If He called gods those to whom the word of God came, and the Scriptures cannot be broken, 36 Do you say, To Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, do you say, 'You blaspheme, because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?  37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not;  38 And if I do, when you do not believe me, believe my works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in him.  39 Then again they sought to seize him; but he turned away from their hands, 40 and went again across the Jordan, to the place where John had baptized before, and remained there.  41 Many came to Him and said that John had not performed any miracle, but all that John had said about Him was true.  E-42 And many there believed on Him.

     1 And there was a certain Lazarus of Bethany, of the village where Mary and her sister Martha dwelt.  2 And Mary, with whom brother Lazarus was sick, was she who anointed the Lord with myrrh, and wiped his feet with her hair.  3 And the sisters sent to say unto him, Lord! behold, whom Thou lovest, sick.  4 And when Jesus heard this, he said, "This sickness is not unto death, but to the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it."  5 And Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.  6 And when he heard that he was sick, he tarried two days in the place where he was.  7 And he said unto the disciples, Let us go again into Judea.  8 And the disciples said to him, "Rabbi! how long have the Jews sought to stone Thee, and Thou art going thither again?  9 Jesus answered, 'Are there not twelve hours in the day?' He who walks by day does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world;  10 But he who walks by night stumbles, because there is no light with him.  11 And when he had said these things, he said to them, 'Lazarus our friend has fallen asleep; but I am going to wake him up.  12 His disciples said, "Lord! if he fell asleep, he will recover.  13 Jesus was talking about his death, and they thought he was talking about an ordinary dream.  14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, 'Lazarus is dead;  15 and I rejoice for you, that I was not there, that ye might believe; but let us go to him.  16 Then Thomas, otherwise called the Twin, said to the disciples, "Let us go and die with him."  17 When Jesus came, he found that he had already been in the tomb for four days.  18 And Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stades;  19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary to comfort them in their sorrow for their brother.  20 And when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him; Maria was sitting at home.  21 Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord! if you had been here, my brother would not have died.  22 But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you.  23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."  24 Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection, on the last day."  25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me, though he die, shall live.  26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Do you believe this?  27 She said to Him, 'Yes, Lord! I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, coming into the world.  28 And when she had said these things, she went and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, 'The Master is here, and he is calling you.'  29 As soon as she heard, she got up in haste, and went to him.  30 Jesus had not yet entered the village, but he was at the place where Martha had met Him.  31 And the Jews, who were with her in the house, and comforted her, seeing that Mary got up in haste and went out, followed her, thinking that she had gone to the tomb to weep there.  32 And Mary, having come to where Jesus was, and seeing him, fell down at his feet, and said to him, 'Lord! if you had been here, my brother would not have died.  33 And when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her, weeping, he himself was grieved in spirit, and was troubled, 34 and said, 'Where have you laid him?' They said to him: Lord! Go and see.  E-35 Jesus shed tears.  36 Then the Jews said, 'See how he loved him.'  37 And some of them said, 'Could not this one, who opened the eyes of the blind man, cause this one also not to die?'  38 But Jesus, again grieving inwardly, comes to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay on it.  39 Jesus says, "Take away the stone." The sister of the deceased, Martha, said to Him: "Lord! already stinks; for four days he was in the tomb.  40 Jesus said to her, 'Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?'  41 So they took away the stone from the cave where the dead man lay. And Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, forgive them! thank you for hearing me.  42 And I knew that thou wouldst always hear me; but I have said these things for the people standing here, that they may believe that you have sent me.  43 And when he had said this, he cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus! Go away.  44 And the dead man went forth, bound hand and foot in grave clothes, and his face was bound with a handkerchief. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, let him go."  45 Then many of the Jews who came to Mary and saw what Jesus had done, believed in him.  46 And some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.

   47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees took counsel and said, 'What shall we do?' This Man works many miracles.  48 If we leave him thus, all will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take possession of our place and people.  49 And one of them, a certain Caiaphas, who was high priest for that year, said to them, 'You know nothing,50 and you will not think that it is better for us that one man should die for the people, than that the whole nation should perish.'  51 And he did not say these things of his own accord, but, being high priest for that year, he foretold that Jesus would die for the people, 52 and not only for the people, but also to gather together the scattered children of God.  53 From that day on, they decided to kill Him.  54 Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there to a country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there he remained with his disciples.

     55 And the Passover of the Jews drew nigh, and many of all the country came to Jerusalem before the Passover to be cleansed.  56 Then they were looking for Jesus, and standing in the temple, they said to one another, 'What do you think?' Will He not come to the feast?  57 And the chief priests and the Pharisees gave orders that if any man knew where he would be, he would declare that he might take him.

     1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was dead, whom he had raised from the dead.  2 There they prepared a supper for Him, and Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those who sat at table with Him.  3 And Mary took a pound of spikenard, pure precious ointment, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. and the house was filled with the fragrance of myrrh.  4 Then one of his disciples, Judas Simon Iscariot, who wanted to betray him, said, 5 Why not sell this ointment for three hundred denarii, and give it to the poor?  6 And he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief. He had a money drawer with him and carried what was put into it.  7 And Jesus said, 'Leave her; she has reserved it for the day of my burial.  8 For you always have the poor with you, but not always me.  9 Many of the Jews knew that he was there, and they came not only to Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.  10 And the chief priests determined to kill Lazarus also, 11 because for his sake many of the Jews came and believed in Jesus.

     12 And on the morrow the multitude of the people who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, 13 took palm branches, and went out to meet him, and cried out, Hosanna! blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, King of Israel!  14 And when Jesus found the colt, he sat on it, as it is written: 15 Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion! Behold, thy King cometh seated on a colt.  16 His disciples at first did not understand this; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that it was written about Him, and they did it to Him.  17 And the people who were with him testified that he had called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead.  18 Therefore the people met him, for they had heard that he had done this miracle.  19 And the Pharisees said among themselves, 'Do you see that you do not succeed in anything?' the whole world follows Him.

     20 Of those who came to worship at the feast, there were some Greeks.  21 And they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and besought him, saying, 'Lord! we want to see Jesus.  22 Philip went and spoke of these things to Andrew; and then Andrew and Philip told Jesus about it.  23 And Jesus answered and said unto them, 'The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified.'  24 Verily, verily, I say to you, if a grain of wheat falls into the ground and does not die, it will remain alone; but if he dies, he will bear much fruit.  25 He that loveth his life shall destroy it; but he who hates his soul in this world will preserve it to eternal life.  26 Whosoever serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be. And whosoever serves me, my Father will honor him.  27 My soul is now troubled; and what shall I say? Father! deliver me from this hour! But at this hour I have come.

     28 Father! glorify Thy name. Then came a voice from heaven: "And I have glorified, and I will glorify again."  29 And the people who stood and heard these things said, 'This is thunder; and others said, An angel spoke to him.  30 Jesus said to this, "This voice was not for me, but for the people."  31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.  32 And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me.  33 And these things he spoke, that he might understand by what death he would die.  34 And the people answered him, 'We have heard from the law that Christ abides for ever; how then do you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?  35 Then Jesus said to them, 'Yet a little while the light is with you; walk while there is light, lest darkness overtake you: but he who walks in darkness does not know whither he goes.  36 As long as the light is with you, believe in the light, that you may be sons of light. When Jesus had said this, he departed and hid himself from them.  37 So many wonders did he do before them, and they did not believe in him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled: Lord! Who believed what we heard? and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed?  39 Therefore they could not believe, because, as Isaiah said, 40 This people have blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, that I may heal them.  41 These things Isaiah said, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.  42 Yet many of the rulers also believed in him; but for the sake of the Pharisees they did not confess, lest they should be excommunicated from the synagogue, 43 for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.  44 And Jesus cried out, saying, 'He who believes in me does not believe in me, but in him who sent me.'  45 And he that seeth me beholds him that sent me.  46 I have come into the world as a light, that whosoever believeth in me should not remain in darkness.  47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him, for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.  48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath a judge unto himself: the word which I have spoken, it shall judge him at the last day.  49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent Me, He gave Me a commandment what to say and what to say.  50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say, as the Father told Me.
