A guide to the study of the Holy Scriptures of the New Testament. The Four Gospels.

1. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was to God, and God was the Word." Here the truth of monotheism is exalted by the revelation of the second hypostasis in God (the expression "was unto God" is explained further in verse 16: "The only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father").

Kn. Being:

2. "The earth was formless and empty" (lifeless)...

Gospel:

2. "All things were made through Him [the Word], and without Him was not anything made that was made." The verb "said" is specified by the words "said by the Word", the participation of the second Divine Hypostasis, the Creator of the whole world, the executor of the will of the Father.

Kn. Being:

3. "And God said, Let there be light." — It is said about physical light.

Gospel:

3. "In Him (the Word) was life" (Contrast).

Kn. Being:

4. "And darkness over the waters..."

Gospel:

4. "And life was the Light of men." The object of thought is immeasurably exalted, despite being designated by one and the same word.

O Word, the Son of God: "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not encompass it" — (Contrast).

In the following verses:

Kn. Being:

5. On the Holy Spirit. "And the Spirit of God moved over the waters..."

Gospel:

5. The words of John the Baptist are quoted: "I did not know Him; but for this reason He came to baptize in water, that He might be manifested to Israel. And John testified, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and abiding upon him" (vv. 31-32).

Kn. Being:

6. "And God said, Let us make man in our image... And God created man in His own image..."

Gospel:
