Over the past 15 to 20 years, our understanding of death has changed in many ways. What seemed implausible and incredible is written not only by spiritual and secular writers, but also by scientists, including doctors. Many verification studies have been published.

We have already written about Dr. Moody and his observations. His merit is that he objectively approached this problem, collected a large amount of material, systematized it and attracted the attention of serious scientific circles to it. He was not the first to deal with this issue. Before him, Dr. E. Küblet-Ross from Chicago worked on the problem of death, and even earlier – Carl Gustav Jung, Professor Voino-Yasenetsky (Archbishop Luke), Dr. George Ritchie and other scientists. Later, Dr. Mikhail Sabom did a lot.

By 1980, there were more than 25,000 known cases of recently deceased people being brought back to life. At present, there are many more of them. People's perceptions during their stay "on the other side" are recorded, systematized and many of them are checked.

Now scientists propose to distinguish two stages of perception: autoscopic – what the soul sees, hears and feels immediately after leaving the body, when it is still here, in our world; and transcendental – perceptions of a soul that has already gone to an unearthly world.

Above we have given three stories about the autoscopic perceptions of people who have gone through temporary death. One of them, the case of Uexkul, was described more than 70 years ago, that is, before the systematic scientific study of the phenomenon of the continuation of life after the death of the body began.

The following examples are taken from various sources, many of them from the books "Life After Life" by Dr. M. Moody and "Memories of Death" by Professor M. Sabom. Both scientists pass on the stories of their patients. They speak them in words, thus preserving the brightness and freshness of the described experiences.

Он попытался взяться за ручки носилок, но не почувствовал их тяжести, его руки не ощущали контакта. Посмотрев на убитого или, может быть, раненного, солдат с удивлением узнал самого себя.

В сборнике «Надежда» (вып. 3, 1979) опубликован перевод с французского статьи Жан-Жака Грейфа «Жизнь после смерти». В числе описанных случаев есть такой рассказ: «Я ничего не понимал. Я видел свое собственное тело на кровати. Было грустно видеть его таким жалким... Я видел себя плоским, как на фотографии или в зеркале... Вдруг я увидел себя полностью в трех измерениях, на расстоянии двух метров. Мне понадобилось время, чтобы узнать себя».

Остановка дыхания у женщины. Реанимация. Она рассказала: «Я видела, как они старались оживить меня. Все это было очень странно. Я была выше их и будто смотрела на них сверху... Я пыталась говорить с ними, но никто не замечал меня. Доктора и сестры колотили мое тело, пытались делать вливание в кровь... Я, все время стараясь привлечь их внимание, говорила им: «Оставьте меня в покое, я хочу остаться одна...» Но они меня не слышали. Тогда я попыталась убрать их руки, чтобы они больше не били меня, но у меня ничего не выходило. Это было, я не знаю как... я видела, что я трогаю их руки, стараясь оттолкнуть их, но они все еще были там же. Я не понимала. Я не чувствовала давления их рук, может быть, мои руки проходили сквозь них или еще что?» (Муди. с. 43 – 44).

Есть много описаний того, как душа мужчины или женщины, выйдя из тела, пытается войти в контакт с врачами или сестрами, старающимися оживить безжизненное тело. Душа женщины, умершей во время остановки сердца, чувствовала себя совершенно реальной и удивлялась безуспешности попыток: «Почему они не видят, не отвечают? Может быть, это они нереальны? Как в зеркале?»
