1 Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful, 2 but in the law of the Lord is his will, and in his law he meditateth day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, which bears its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither; and in everything he does, he will succeed.

4 Not so, the wicked, but they are like dust swept up by the wind. 5 Therefore the wicked shall not stand in judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish. Psalm 2 Psalm of David. 1 Why are the nations troubled, and the nations plot vain? 2 The kings of the earth arise, and the princes take counsel together against the Lord, and against his anointed.

3 "Let us break their bands, and cast off their fetters." 4 He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh, and the Lord shall mock him. 5 Then he will say to them in his wrath, and with his wrath he will cause them to be dismayed: 6 "I have anointed my king over Zion, my holy mountain; 7 I will declare the decree: The Lord said to me, Thou art my Son; I have begotten thee this day; 8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possession. 9 Thou shalt smite them with a rod of iron; you will break them like a potter's vessel."

10 Understand, therefore, O kings; learn, judges of the earth! 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Honour the Son, lest he be angry, and lest ye perish in your way, for his wrath shall soon be kindled. Blessed are all who trust in Him. Psalm 3 1 Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. 2 Lord! How my enemies have multiplied!

Many rise up against me, 3 many say to my soul, 'There is no salvation for him in God.' 4 But thou, O Lord, art a shield before me, my glory, and thou liftest up my head. 5 With my voice I cry unto the Lord, and he heareth me from his holy mountain. 6 I lie down, sleep, and rise, for the Lord protects me. 7 I will not be afraid of those of the people who are arrayed against me on all sides. 8 Arise, O Lord! save me, O my God!

for Thou smitest all my enemies in the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. 9 Salvation is from the Lord. Thy blessing be upon Thy people. Glory: Psalm 4:1 To the Choir Leader. On string instruments. Psalm of David. 2 When I cry out, hear me, O God of my righteousness! In the cramped space Thou didst give me space. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 3 Sons of men! How long will my glory be in reproach?

How long will you love vanity, and seek falsehood? 4 Know ye that the Lord has set apart for himself his holy one; The Lord hears when I call upon Him. 5 When you are angry, do not sin: meditate in your hearts on your couches, and be quiet; 6 Offer sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord. 7 Many say, 'Who will show us good?' Show us the light of Thy countenance, O Lord!

8 Thou hast filled my heart with gladness, since the bread and wine [and oil] abounded among them. 9 I lie down quietly and sleep, for you, O Lord, alone give me to live in safety. Psalm 5:1 To the head of the choir. On wind instruments. Psalm of David. 2 Hear, O Lord, my words, understand my thoughts. 3 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, O my King and my God. for I pray to Thee. 4 Lord!

hear my voice early, and I will stand before thee early, and I will wait, 5 for thou art God, who loveth iniquity; the wicked shall not dwell with Thee; 6 The wicked shall not abide in thy sight: thou hatest all that doeth iniquity. 7 Thou shalt destroy them that speak lies; the bloodthirsty and treacherous is abhorred by the Lord. 8 But I, according to the abundance of thy mercy, will enter into thy house, and worship thy holy temple in thy fear. 9 Lord!

guide me in Thy righteousness, for the sake of my enemies; level Thy way before me. 10 For there is no truth in their mouths: their heart is destruction, their throat is an open sepulchre, they flatter with their tongues. 11 Condemn them, O God, that they may fall from their designs; because of the multitude of their wickedness, cast them away, for they have rebelled against you. 12 And all those who trust in you will rejoice, they will rejoice for ever, and you will protect them. and they that love thy name shall glory in thee.

13 For thou dost bless the righteous, O Lord; With goodwill, as with a shield, you crown him. Psalm 6:1 To the head of the choir. On an eight-string one. Psalm of David. 2 Lord! Do not rebuke me in Thy wrath, nor punish me in Thy wrath. 3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; heal me, O Lord, for my bones are shaken; 4 And my soul is greatly shaken; And thou, O Lord, how long?

5 Turn back, O Lord, deliver my soul, save me for thy mercy's sake, 6 for in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall praise thee? 7 I am weary with my groanings: every night I wash my bed, with my tears I wet my bed. 8 My eye is dry with sorrow, it is worn out by all my enemies. 9 Get away from me, all you who do iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping, 10 the Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will accept my prayer.

11 Let all my enemies be put to shame and cruelly smitten; let them return and be ashamed in a moment. Glory: Psalm 7:1 The lamentation which David sang to the Lord concerning the cause of Cush, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 O Lord my God! in Thee I trust; save me from all my persecutors, and deliver me; 3 Let him not pluck out my soul like a lion, tearing me to pieces, when there is no one to deliver. 4 O Lord my God!
