The Psalter of David

Hear me, O Lord, for thy mercy is good; according to the multitude of Thy mercies, look upon me;

Hide not thy face from thy servant, for I am grieved. hear me quickly;

draw near to my soul, deliver it; For the sake of my enemies, save me.

Thou knowest my reproach, my shame, and my shame: my enemies are all before thee.

Reproach has broken my heart, and I am faint, I have waited for compassion, but there is none, comforters, but I do not find.

And they gave me gall to eat, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Let their table be a snare for them, and their peaceful feast a snare;

let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and their loins be weakened for ever;

Pour out Thy wrath upon them, and let the flame of Thy wrath envelop them.

Their dwelling shall be desolate, and there shall be no dwelling in their tents,

For those whom Thou hast slain, they still pursue, and the afflictions of those who are wounded by Thee are multiplied.

Add iniquity to their iniquity, and let them not enter into Thy righteousness;

Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and let them not be written with the righteous.

But I am poor and afflicted; may Thy help, O God, raise me up.

I will praise the name of my God in song, I will exalt him in praise,

And it shall be more pleasing to the Lord than an ox, than a calf with horns and hoofs.

Those who suffer will see this, and they will rejoice. And your heart shall live, you who seek God;

for the Lord hearkens unto the poor, and despises not his prisoners.

Let the heavens and the earth, the seas, and everything that moves in them, praise him;

For God shall save Zion, and shall build the cities of Judah, and they shall dwell therein, and inherit her,

and the offspring of his servants shall be established in it, and they that love his name shall dwell therein.
