And when she spake thus daily unto Joseph, and he would not obey her, that he might sleep with her, and be with her,

And it came to pass one day that he went into the house to do his work, and there was none of his household in the house.

And she seized him by his garment, and said, Lie down with me. But he, leaving his garment in her hands, ran and ran out.

And when she saw that he had left his garment in her hands, he ran away,

And she called out to her household, and said unto them, Behold, he hath brought a Hebrew unto us to mock us. And he came to me to lie down with me, and I cried out with a loud voice;

And when he heard that I had lifted up a cry and cried out, he left his garment with me, and ran away, and ran out.

And she left his garments with her until his lord came to her house.

And she told him the same words, saying, 'The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought to us, has come to me to mock me,

But when I had lifted up a cry and cried out, he left his garment with me, and fled away.

And when his lord heard the words of his wife, which she had spoken to him, saying, 'This is what your servant has done to me,' he was filled with wrath;

And his lord took Joseph, and gave him up to the prison, where the king's prisoners are shut up. And he was there in prison.

And the Lord was with Joseph, and extended mercy to him, and granted him favor in the sight of the captain of the prison.

And the captain of the prison delivered into the hands of Joseph all the prisoners who were in prison, and in all that they did there he was the steward.

The captain of the prison did not look at anything that was in his hands, because the Lord was with Joseph, and in all that he did, the Lord gave success.
