And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart [and in your soul];

And thou shalt teach them unto thy children, and thou shalt speak of them, sitting in thy house, and going by the way, and lying down, and rising up;

And thou shalt bind them as a sign on thy hand, and let them be a bandage over thy eyes,

And thou shalt write them on the doorposts of thy house, and on thy gates.

And when the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land which he swore to thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give thee, with great and good cities, which thou hast not built,

And with houses filled with all good things which thou hast not filled, and with wells hewn out of stone which thou hast not hewn, with vineyards and olive trees which thou hast not planted, and thou shalt eat and be satisfied,

then take heed lest [thy heart be deceived, and] thou shalt forget the Lord, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Fear the Lord thy God, and serve Him alone, and swear by His name.

Do not follow other gods, the gods of the nations that will be around you;

For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God; lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Do not tempt the Lord your God, as you tempted him in Mass.

Ye shall keep fast the commandments of the Lord your God, and his statutes, and the statutes which he has commanded you;

And thou shalt do what is just and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest enter in, and possess the good land which the LORD swore to thy fathers,

and that he may drive away all thy enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.
