16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been deceived by the Magi, was very angry, and sent to destroy all the babes in Bethlehem and in all the province thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had definitely learned from the Magi.

17 Then was fulfilled what was said through Jeremiah the prophet,

18 A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and a great cry; Rachel weeps for her children: and she does not want to be comforted, because they are gone.

19 And when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

20 And he saith, Arise, and take the child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the life of the child are dead.

21 And he arose, and took the child and his mother, and entered into the land of Israel.

22 And when he heard that Archelaus reigned over Judea, he feared to go thither instead of his father Herod; and having received a revelation in a dream, he withdrew to the borders of Galilee.

23 And when he came, he dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was done through the prophets, that he should be called a Nazarene.

Matthew 3

1 In those days in the wilderness of Judea, John the Baptist went out to preach

2 and saith, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near;

3 He is the one of whom it is said through Isaiah the prophet: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his ways."

4 And John himself had a garment of camel's hair, and a girdle of leather round his thighs; and his food was locusts and wild honey.

5 Then Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region of the Jordan, went out to him.
