The heart in the book of Ecclesiastes, as in Proverbs (18:4. 16. 20, 5. 24:6) and in Job (38:2), it is used in the meaning: mind, reason, reason, and in general means an intellectual faculty, and not an organ of feeling (Ecclesiastes 10:3).

G. ¥lghma - Slav. bolezn, synod. sorrow. This refers to the knowledge of the "crooked" (v. 15) world, to enter into faith in God and His Providence. True and useful, according to Ecclesiastes, knowledge is this: fear God and keep His commandments, in this everything is for man (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). Thus are the beginning and the end of the book of Ecclesiastes united!
