How to Read the Bible

18 And the Lord said to Moses, 'Take for you Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom there is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him,

19 And thou shalt set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation, and give him instruction in their eyes,

20 And give him of thy glory, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may hear him;

21 And he shall speak to Eleazar the priest, and inquire of him concerning the decision, by means of the Urim before the Lord; and according to his word they must go out, and according to his word he and all the children of Israel with him and all the congregation must go in.

22 And Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and took Jesus, and set him before Eleazar a priest, and before all the congregation.

23 And he laid his hands on him, and gave him instruction, as the Lord had spoken through Moses.

20. The Testament of Moses (Deuteronomy 1-4.40)

1 These are the words which Moses spake to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness in the plain opposite Suph, between Pharan and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dezahab,

2 At a distance of eleven days' journey from Horeb, on the road from Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.

3 In the fortieth year, the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, Moses spoke to the children of Israel all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them.

4 And after he had slain Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashteroth in Edrei,

5 Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to expound this law, and said,

6 The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb and said, "It is enough for you to dwell on this mountain!

7 Turn and go on a journey, and go to the mountain of the Amorites, and to all their neighbours, to the plain, to the mountain, to the low places, and to the southern extremities, and to the shores of the sea, to the land of Canaan, and to Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates.
