How to Read the Bible

17 All these words and all this vision Nathan told David.

9. David's Prayer (2 Samuel 23:2-7)

2 The Spirit of the Lord speaks in me, and His word is on my tongue.

3 The God of Israel said, the rock of Israel said of me, He that domineth dominion over men shall be righteous, ruling in the fear of God.

4 And as at the dawn of the morning, when the sun rises in a cloudless sky, grass grows out of the earth because of the radiance after the rain,

5 Is not my house with God? For he hath made an everlasting covenant with me, firm and immutable. Is not this how all my salvation and all my will proceed from Him?

6 But the wicked will be like thorns thrown out, which they do not take with their hands;

7 But whoever touches it is armed with iron or the wood of the spear, and they burn him with fire on the spot.

Nathan's prophecy was fulfilled through the appearance of the true Anointed One of the line of David, the Founder of the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ (Luke 1:32-33).

10. David's Sin (2 Samuel 11-12.25)

1 And it came to pass, after a year, at the time when kings were going out on campaigns, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they smote the Ammonites, and besieged Rabbah; David remained in Jerusalem.

2 And it came to pass, in the evening, that David got up from his bed, and was walking on the roof of the king's house, and saw a woman bathing from the roof; And that woman was very beautiful.

3 And David sent to find out who this woman was. And they said to him, This is Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite.

4 David sent his servants to take her; and she came to him, and he slept with her. And when she was cleansed from her uncleanness, she returned to her house.
