Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

8 And now what shall I expect, O Lord? my hope is in Thee.

9 Deliver me from all my iniquities, deliver me not over to the reproach of a fool.

10 I have become dumb, I do not open my mouth; for you have done it.

11 Deflect thy blows from me; I perish from Thy striking hand.

12 If thou chastest a man with chastisement for his transgressions, his beauty shall be scattered as with moths. Thus, every man is vain!

13 Hear, O Lord, my prayer, and hearken unto my cry; Be not silent to my tears, for I am a stranger to Thee, and a stranger, like all my fathers.

14 Depart from me, that I may be refreshed before I depart and be gone.

Psalm 39

1 To the head of the choir. Psalm of David.

2 I trusted firmly in the Lord, and he bowed down to me, and heard my cry;

3 He hath brought me out of a dreadful pit, out of a muddy marsh, and hath set my feet upon a stone, and hath established my feet;

4 And He hath put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and will trust in the Lord.

5 Blessed is the man who puts his hope in the Lord, and does not turn to the proud, and to those who turn away from falsehood.

6 Thou hast done much, O Lord my God: for Thy wonders and thoughts for us, who shall be like Thee? – I wish I could preach and speak, but they outnumber them.

7 Sacrifices and offerings thou didst not desire; Thou hast opened my ears; Thou didst not demand burnt offerings and sin offerings.

8 Then I said, Behold, I am coming; In the scroll of the book it is written about me:

9 I desire to do thy will, O my God, and thy law is in my heart.

10 I have declared thy righteousness in the great assembly; I have not rebuked my mouth: Thou, O Lord, knowest.

11 Thou hast not hid thy righteousness in my heart, but hast declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation, and hast not concealed thy mercy and thy truth before the great assembly.

12 O Lord, withhold not thy mercies from me; may thy mercy and thy truth guard me continually;

13 For innumerable troubles have surrounded me; My iniquities have come upon me, so that I cannot see: there are more of them than a hair on my head; My heart has forsaken me.
