3 да внидет пред лице Твое молитва моя; приклони ухо Твое к молению моему,

4 ибо душа моя насытилась бедствиями, и жизнь моя приблизилась к преисподней.

5 Я сравнялся с нисходящими в могилу; я стал, как человек без силы,

6 между мертвыми брошенный, – как убитые, лежащие во гробе, о которых Ты уже не вспоминаешь и которые от руки Твоей отринуты.

7 Ты положил меня в ров преисподний, во мрак, в бездну.

8 Отяготела на мне ярость Твоя, и всеми волнами Твоими Ты поразил [меня].

9 Ты удалил от меня знакомых моих, сделал меня отвратительным для них; я заключен, и не могу выйти.

10 My eye is weary with grief: all day long I have cried unto thee, O Lord, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

11 Wilt thou work a miracle over the dead? Will the dead rise up and praise You?

12 Or shall thy mercy be proclaimed in the grave, and thy truth in a place of corruption?

13 Shall Thy wonders be known in darkness, and Thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

14 But I call upon thee, O Lord, and early in the morning my prayer precedes thee.

15 Wherefore, O Lord, dost thou cut off my soul, hid thy face from me?

16 I am miserable, and have been faint since my youth; I bear Thy terrors and faint.

17 Thy wrath has passed over me, Thy terrors have crushed me,

18 All day long they surround me like water: they encircle me all together.

19 Thou hast removed from me a friend and a sincere one; I can't see my acquaintances.

Psalm 88

1 The teaching of Epham Ezrahit.

2 Thy mercies, O Lord, I will sing for ever, proclaiming thy truth with my mouth from generation to generation.

3 For I say, Mercy is founded for ever, Thou hast established thy truth in heaven, when thou hast said,

4 "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant:

5 I will establish thy seed for ever, and I will build thy throne for generations and generations."

6 And the heavens shall glorify thy wondrous works, O Lord, and thy truth in the assembly of the saints.

7 For who in heaven can be compared to the Lord? Who among the sons of God can be likened to the Lord?

8 God is terrible in the great assembly of the saints, he is terrible to all those around him.

9 O Lord God Almighty! who is as strong as You, O Lord? And Thy truth is round about Thee.

10 Thou hast dominion over the fury of the sea: when the waves thereof are heaved, Thou hast tamed them.
