50 And all the children of Israel did: as the Lord commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

51 On this very day the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their hosts.

Chapter 13

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Sanctify unto me every firstborn that opens every couch among the children of Israel, from man to beast, for they are mine.

3 And Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day in which you came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage: for the Lord brought you out of here with a mighty hand, and ye shall not eat leavened.

4 Today you go out, in the month of Aviv. [8]

5 And when the Lord [your God] shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and of the Hittites, and of the Amorites, and of the Hivites, and of the Jebusites, which he swore to thy fathers, that he would give thee a land flowing with milk and honey, thou shalt do this service in this month.

6 Seven days ye shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day shall be the feast of the Lord.

7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days, and you shall not have leavened bread, neither shall you have leavened bread in all your borders.

8 And thou shalt declare that day unto thy son, saying, This is for the sake of what the Lord [God] did to me when I came out of Egypt.

9 And let it be a sign unto thee in thy hand, and a memorial in thy eyes, that the law of the LORD may be in thy mouth, for the Lord brought thee out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

10 And thou shalt fulfill this statute at the appointed time, from year to year.

11 And when the LORD [your God] shall bring thee into the land of Canaan, as he swore to thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it unto thee,

12 Thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all things that open the couch; And all the firstlings of the cattle that thou shalt have, of the male sex, thou shalt dedicate to the Lord;

13 and every one of the donkeys that opens [the womb], you shall replace it with a lamb; and if you do not replace it, redeem it; and thou shalt redeem every firstborn of man among thy sons.

14 And when afterwards thy son shall ask thee, saying, 'What is this?' then say to him, With a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

15 For when Pharaoh persisted in letting us go, the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of the cattle.

16 And let it be a sign on thy hand, and instead of a bandage over thy eyes, for with a mighty hand the Lord brought us up out of Egypt.

17 And when Pharaoh had sent the people away, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, because it was near; For God said, "Lest the people repent when they see the war, and return to Egypt."

18 And God led the people by the wilderness road to the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went out armed out of the land of Egypt.
