Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

22 But the priests who draw near to the Lord [God] must sanctify themselves, lest the Lord smite them.

23 And Moses said to the Lord, 'The people cannot go up to Mount Sinai, because you have warned us, saying, 'Draw a line around the mountain and sanctify it.'

24 And the Lord said to him, 'Go, come down, then you will come up, and Aaron with you; but let not the priests and the people rush to go up to the Lord, lest [the Lord] smite them.

25 And Moses went down to the people, and told them unto them.

Chapter 20

1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee an idol, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not worship them, nor serve them: for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, punishing the children for the trespass of the fathers, even to the third and fourth generation, who hate me,

6 And he that doeth mercy unto a thousand generations unto them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not leave unpunished him who takes his name in vain.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy;

9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work,

10 And the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt not do any work therein, neither thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor the stranger that is within thy gates.

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and on the seventh day he rested; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and sanctified it.

12 Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13 Thou shalt not kill.

14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Thou shalt not steal.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
