33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they lead thee into sin against me. for if you serve their gods, it will be a snare for you.

Chapter 24

1 And he said to Moses, 'Go up to the Lord, you and Aaron, and Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship [the Lord] from afar;

2 And Moses alone shall draw near to the Lord, but they shall not come near, and the people shall not go up with him.

3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the laws. And all the people answered with one voice, and said, "All that the Lord has said, we will do [and we will obey]."

4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and arose early in the morning, and set under the mountain an altar and twelve stones, according to the number of the twelve tribes of Israel.

5 And he sent the young men of the children of Israel, and they offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed the calves for a peace offering to the LORD.

6 Moses took half of the blood, and poured it into the cups, and sprinkled the other half on the altar;

7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read it aloud to the people, and they said, All that the Lord has said, we will do, and we will be obedient.

8 And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.'

9 And Moses and Aaron, and Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, went up,

10 and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there is something like a work of pure sapphire, and as clear as the sky itself.

11 And he did not stretch out his hand against the elect of the children of Israel: they saw God, and ate and drank.

12 And the Lord said to Moses, 'Go up to me into the mountain, and be there; and I will give thee tablets of stone, and the law, and the commandments, which I have written to teach them.
