23 and when I take away my hand, you will see me from behind, but my face will not be visible.

Chapter 34

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Thou shalt heave thee two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on these tablets the words which were on the former tablets which thou hast broken.

2 And be ready for the morning, and go up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and stand before me there on the top of the mountain.

3 But no man shall go up with thee, and no man shall show himself in all the mountain; Not even cattle, flocks or herds, shall graze near this mountain.

4 And Moses hewed out two tablets of stone like the former, and rising up early in the morning, he went up into Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him; And he took his two tablets of stone in his hands.

5 And the Lord came down in a cloud, and stood there beside it, and proclaimed the name of Jehovah.

6 And the Lord passed before him, and cried out, The Lord, the Lord, the God who loves mankind and is merciful, long-suffering, and abundantly merciful, and true,

7 He who preserves mercy for a thousand generations, who forgives guilt and transgression and sin, but does not leave it unpunished, punishes the guilt of fathers in children, and in the children of children to the third and fourth generation.

8 Immediately Moses fell to the ground and worshiped [God]

9 And he said, If I have found favor in Thy sight, O Lord, let the Lord go in our midst. for this people are stiff-necked; forgive our iniquities and our sins, and make us thy inheritance.

10 And he said, "Behold, I make a covenant, I will do wonders in the sight of all your people, such as have not happened in all the earth, nor among any nations. and all the people among whom you are will see the work of the Lord; for it will be terrible what I will do for you;

11 Keep what I command you this day: behold, I will cast out from before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

12 See that you do not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you enter, lest they become a snare among you.
