Bible. Books of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments

22 But Jesus said to him, 'Follow me, and let the dead bury your dead.'

23 And when he entered into the boat, his disciples followed him.

24 And behold, there was a great tumult on the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves; but He was asleep.

25 Then his disciples came up to him, and awoke him, and said, 'Lord! Save us, we are perishing.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye so afraid, ye of little faith? Then, getting up, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great silence.

27 And the people were amazed, saying, 'Who is this, that both the winds and the sea obey him?'

28 And when he came to the other side of the country of Gergesenes, he was met by two demon-possessed men coming out of the tombs,40 very fierce, so that no one dared to pass that way.

29 And behold, they cried out, 'What have you to do with us, Jesus, the Son of God?' Thou hast come hither before the time to torment us.

30 And a great herd of pigs was grazing far from them.

31 And the demons asked him, 'If thou wilt cast us out, send us into a herd of swine.'

32 And he said to them, 'Go.' And they went out and went into the herd of swine. And so, the whole herd of pigs threw themselves down the steep slope into the sea and died in the water.

33 And the shepherds fled, and came into the city, and told of all things, and of what had happened to the possessed men.

34 And behold, all the city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they asked him to depart from their borders.

Chapter 9

1 Then he got into the boat, crossed back, and came to his city.

2 And behold, they brought unto him a paralytic laid on the bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Be of good cheer, child! thy sins are forgiven thee.

3 And some of the scribes said to themselves, He blasphemes.

4 And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

5 For which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven, or to say, Arise and walk?

6 But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins, then saith unto the paralytic, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.

7 And he arose, and took up his bed, and went to his house.
