2 God said, 'Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac; And thou shalt go to the land of Moriah, and there thou shalt offer him for a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell thee.

3 Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men, and Isaac his son; and he chopped wood for a burnt offering, and got up he went to the place of which God had told him.

4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place from afar.

5 And Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey, and I and the son will go thither and worship, and return to you.'

6 And Abraham took wood for a burnt offering, and put it on Isaac his son; He took fire and knife in his hands, and they both went together.

7 And Isaac began to speak to Abraham his father, and said, 'My father! And he answered, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the lamb for the burnt offering?

8 Abraham said, 'God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' And they both walked on together.

9 And they came to the place of which God had spoken unto him; And Abraham built an altar there, and laid out the wood, and bound his son Isaac, and laid him on the altar on top of the wood.

10 And Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham! Abraham! He said, Here I am.

12 And the angel said, Lift not up thy hand against the lad, nor do anything to him: for now I know that thou fearest God, and have not spared thy son, thy only son, for my sake.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw, and behold, behind him was a ram, entangled in the thicket with his horns. Abraham went and took a ram and offered it for a burnt offering in the place of [Isaac] his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. Wherefore even now it is said, On the mountain of Jehovah it shall be seen.

15 And a second time the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham from heaven
