11 And she made a vow, saying, 'Lord [Almighty God] of hosts! If Thou lookest upon the affliction of Thy servant, and rememberest me, and forgett not Thy servant, and give Thy servant a male child, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and the razor shall not touch his head.

12 And while she was praying long before the Lord, Eli looked unto her lips;

13 And as Hannah spoke in her heart, and her lips only moved, and her voice was not heard, Eli thought her drunk.

14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunk? sober up from thy wine [and depart from the presence of the Lord].

15 And Anna answered, and said, 'No, my lord; I am a woman who is sorrowful in spirit, I have not drunk wine or strong drink, but I pour out my soul before the Lord.

16 Consider not thy servant a worthless woman, for in my great sorrow and in my sorrow I have spoken hitherto.

17 And Eli answered and said, 'Go in peace, and the God of Israel will grant your petition, which you asked of him.'

18 And she said, Let thy servant find mercy in thy sight. And she went on her way, and ate, and her face was no longer sad as before.

19 And they arose in the morning, and worshipped themselves before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house in Ramah. And Elkan knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her.

20 Чрез несколько времени зачала Анна и родила сына и дала ему имя: Самуил, ибо, [говорила она], от Господа [Бога Саваофа] я испросила его.

21 И пошел муж ее Елкана и все семейство его [в Силом] совершить годичную жертву Господу и обеты свои [и все десятины от земли своей].

22 Анна же не пошла [с ним], сказав мужу своему: когда младенец отнят будет от груди и подрастет, тогда я отведу его, и он явится пред Господом и останется там навсегда.

23 И сказал ей Елкана, муж ее: делай, что тебе угодно; оставайся, доколе не вскормишь его грудью; только да утвердит Господь слово, [вышедшее из уст твоих]. И осталась жена его, и кормила грудью сына своего, доколе не вскормила.

24 Когда же вскормила его, пошла с ним в Силом, взяв три тельца [и хлебы] и одну ефу муки и мех вина, и пришла в дом Господа в Силом, [и отрок с ними]; отрок же был еще дитя.
