[974] This is the genealogy of Esau, who is also Edom.

[975] And Esau said to Jacob, "Give me to eat this red, this red, for I am tired." From this he was given the nickname: Edom.

[976] and the Horites in their mountain Seir, as far as El-Faran in the wilderness.

[977] and on Seir the Horites lived before; but the children of Esau drove them out, and destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, as Israel did with the land of their inheritance which the Lord had given them.

[978] And give a command to the people, and say, You will pass through the borders of your brethren, the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, and they will fear you. but beware of making war with them, for I will not give you their land one foot apart, for I have given Mount Seir to Esau for possession.

[979] And we passed by our brethren, the sons of Esau, who dwelt in Seir, by the way of the plain, from Elath and Ezion-geber, and we turned, and went to the wilderness of Moab.

[980] And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the people of his house, and [all] his flocks, and all his cattle, and all his possessions which he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went [Esau] to another land from the presence of Jacob his brother...

[981] Listen to us, our lord; you are the prince of God in our midst; in the best of our burial places bury thy dead; None of us will refuse you a burial place for the burial of your dead.

[982] Then David also arose, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, "My lord, king! And Saul looked back, and David fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down.

[983] And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan were not pleasing to Isaac his father; And Esau went to Ishmael, and took Mahalath the wife, the daughter of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, and the sister of Nebaioth, above his other wives.

[984] And behold, the Lord stood on it and said, "I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac; [Do not be afraid]. The land on which you lie I will give you and your descendants; and your descendants will be like the sand of the earth; and you will spread to the sea, and to the east, and to the north, and to the noonday; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed; and behold, I am with thee, and I will keep thee wherever thou goest; and I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have told you.

[985] I am God [who appeared to you] at Bethel, where you poured oil on the monument, and where you made a vow to me; now arise, come out of this land, and return to the land of thy homeland [and I will be with thee].

[986] Abram believed the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness.

[987] And Abraham came and said, "Wilt thou destroy the righteous with the wicked?
