The Gospel of John

27 He is He who comes after me, but He who stands before me. I am not worthy to untie the strap of His shoes.

E-28 It was at Bethabara by the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."

3This is the man of whom I said, "A man is coming after me, who has gone before me, because he was before me."

31 I did not know Him; but for this reason He came to baptize in water, that He might be manifested to Israel.

32 And John testified, saying, 'I saw the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove, and abiding upon him.'

33 I did not know him; but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, On whom you see the Spirit descending and abiding upon Him, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

34 And I saw and testified that this is the Son of God.

35 And on the morrow John stood again, and two of his disciples.

36 And when he saw Jesus coming, he said, 'Behold the Lamb of God.'

37 When the two disciples heard these words from him, they followed Jesus.

38 And Jesus, having turned and seen them coming, said to them, 'What have you need?' And they said unto him, Rabbi, which is to say, teacher, where dwellest thou?

39 He said to them, 'Go and see.' They went and saw where He lived; and they stayed with him that day. It was about ten o'clock.

40 One of the two who heard from John *about* *Jesus* and followed Him was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter.

41 He was the first to find his brother Simon, and said to him, 'We have found the Messiah, which means, Christ;

42 and brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looked at him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah; thou shalt be called Cephas, which means a stone (Peter).

43 On the morrow *Jesus* wanted to go into Galilee, and he found Philip and said to him, 'Follow me.'

44 And Philip was from Bethsaida, from *one* city with Andrew and Peter.

45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses wrote in the law and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph of Nazareth."

46 But Nathanael said to him, 'Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?' Philip said to him, "Go and see."

47 And when Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, he said of him, "Behold a true Israelite, in whom there is no guile."
