Text of the Festal Menaion in Russian

In paradise I was once stripped naked by a tree, / by eating from which the enemy brings death; / but the wood of the Cross, which brings the garment of life to men, / was erected on earth, / and the whole world was filled with all joy. / Seeing it lifted up, people, / let us cry out to God in faith: / "Thy house is full of glory!"

Glory, and now: we repeat the same.

Stepenna, 1st antiphon of the 4th tone.

Prokeimenon, tone 4

We have seen all the ends of the earth / the salvation of our God.

Verse: Sing a new song to the Lord, for the Lord hath wrought wondrous things. Ps 97:3, 1a

The Gospel of John, conceived 42b

The Lord said: "Father, glorify Thy name." And a voice came from heaven: "And I have glorified, and I will glorify again!" Others said, "The angel spoke to Him." Jesus answered and said, "This voice was not for me, but for you. Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." And this He said, making it clear what kind of death He was to die. The people answered Him, "We have heard from the Law that Christ abides forever; but how then do you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?" Jesus said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have light, lest darkness overtake you; but he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. As long as you have light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light!"

John 12:28–36a

We also sing: Seeing the Resurrection of Christ:

After Psalm 50

[Glory: Thou art my mighty covering, / the threefold Cross of Christ, / sanctify me by thy power, / that I may worship and glorify thee with faith and love!

And now: we repeat the same.]

Have mercy on me, O God:
